On World Teacher's Day, we honour our Australia Awards alumni who are selflessly sharing their lives to the next generation as teachers and educators.
This is Teacher Archie's story. Australia Awards alumnus Prof. Abelardo Apollo David Jr. was awarded a Special Citation in the 2019 Australian Alumni Excellence Awards for his work in promoting a more inclusive society. He built the Independent Living and Learning Centre (ILLC) – the biggest special education (SPED) school in the Philippines – and founded the REACH Foundation, which sets up community-based rehabilitation programs for children in poor and remote communities.
