The course was designed to improve the competencies of Human Resource (HR) technical staff and managers and to provide practical planning techniques within the public sector context drawing on examples from the private sector and other jurisdictions to enable HR practitioners and line management to meet their organisation’s future staffing requirements. The outputs of the course were the development of a strategic workforce management plan and policies and the development of succession plan.
Trainers from the Civil Service Institute also participated in the course who will train other public sector agencies.

Strategic Workforce Planning and Succession Management for Senior HR Leaders
Identify and draft succession management standards, systems or procedures to achieve the agency’s mandate
The development or review of agency succession management policy
Set the strategic direction for HR specialists who will implement the policy
Course 2 (6-7 and 13-14 June 2019)

Provide workforce planning and succession strategies to underpin the organization’s strategic and business decisions including how to conduct workforce analyses, to contribute to workforce planning, to assist with succession management and to develop a workforce plan
The development of a range of workforce planning strategies that will give effect to the agency succession management
For Trainers - how to develop the competency of those with workforce planning responsibilities
Undertake a scan of organisational challenges in areas such as turnover rates, competency profiles and HR Analytics
Undertake an analysis of options including revisiting an organisation’s HR strategy and the identification of medium-to-long-term directions
